Twin's Game

We scored some pretty good seats to the last Twin's game of the season. This was my second trip to Target Field and Dwight's first. Allie enjoyed her first ever Twin's game! She enjoyed watching all the people and even slept about 45 minutes through all the commotion.

Welcome Home

Dwight and I have been going back and forth on what kind of home we should buy next year. Years ago, Dwight liked the older homes and I was more for the newer homes. Now, Dwight is for the newer homes and I would rather get an older home until Dwight convinced me to look at some of the model homes in the area. There are three builders in Rosemount right now: Ryland, D-R-Horton and Lennar. Over the last week we have looked at all three and IF we were to build, we are looking at Lennar as a lead contender.  We are still weighing out our options and still need to sit down to look at financials. We are getting very excited that this could be a possibility. Here is one of the plans that we both like: http://www.lennar.com/New-Homes/Minnesota/Minneapolis-St-Paul/Rosemount/Falmoor-Glen/Sinclair#t_h&s_1

Who Done It?

Every year we have attended the Who Done It Hike at the Ritter Farm Park in Lakeville. This year Makayla's friend Chase came with us. Chase stayed over the night before so we could leave early Saturday morning. We walk the trails and read clues along the way. At the end of the hike we submit our names in the bucket of who we think committed the crime. Even though we guessed right, we didn't win one of the big prizes but each of the kids received a t-shirt.

Reading Rocks!

Makayla is asking that you please support her in this year's Reading Rocks program. Reading Rocks is a read-a-thon to raise money for her school. The money raised will support programs and activities for the school. They are raising money by reading books and asking people to be sponsors. You can pledge for the amount of time she reads or a flat dollar amount. Makayla will need all donations back to school by October 1. Thank you for your support!

Makayla has been the top reader in her class every year! During this two week read-a-thon, her goal is to read over an hour a day. Suggested goal is 30 minutes for grads 3, 4, and 5.

Allie's 6 Month Check-Up

Allie had her 6 month check-up yesterday.
She is 16 lbs, 4 oz = 49%
27 inches = 85%
She had three shots (which did not end well):
Diphtheria-Tetanus-Pertssis, Polio,
Hib,Pneumococcal Conjugate and Flu
She cried a good majority of the day, medicine did not help this poor girl.
Though she woke up happy as a clam this morning.
She took a good nap but started to run a fever late afternoon.
Not sure if it was from her shots or teeth coming in.

What Have I Been Up To?

It seems like I haven't had a break to breathe since returning back to work from maternity leave. I've been so busy with work, I'm finding myself working from home in the evenings (when I can) and then going into work on the weekends. I have also fell back in love with photography. I haven't had a photo session since fall of last year and having Allie I wasn't sure how much time I would be able to devote to it. I've had two sessions so far within the last few weeks and a couple more booked. It's very exciting to get back out in the field again ... now, where do I find time to edit?

I also had been looking for a job closer to family in Texas but haven't had any luck. I have had a couple head hunters contact me from the Minneapolis area but didn't work out based on location. I don't want to drive more than an hour to work, it's bad enough with the snow in the winter it takes me 45 minutes. It's not that I don't like my job, I LOVE it. And after talking it over with Dwight, it looks like we will stay where we are. We're happy, we've made many friends over this past year. Even though I really wanted to move this time last year, it's almost a blessing in disguise really.

Since we made that decision, we've decided to take the next step and buy a house. We are going to start to pack stuff away to make our townhome sellable and our goal is to put it up on the market in the spring. A big enough house for those family members ... especially those who work from home ... to stay with us for long periods of time! Oh, and those retired folks too! We sent our wish list to our Realtor so we are excited to begin the journey. We've been in our townhome for 10 years now and are finally running out of room. Makayla is excited for a yard, Mister is excited for lots of windows, Dwight is excited for a 3 car garage and I am excited for bringing groceries in from the garage right to the kitchen ... NO MORE STAIRS ... oh, and my craft room back.

First Day Of 3rd Grade!

On Tuesday Makayla went back to school! According to Dwight the house was extremely quiet! Makayla said the first week of school was great, only because her teacher said that she doesn't like to give homework on Fridays ... yippie! A break for the students AND the parents! I'm starting to like 3rd grade myself!

A little problem with the bus, it was late arriving home every day but Friday. Tuesday = 1 hour late, Wednesday = 45 minutes late, Thursday = 30 minutes late and Friday = Right On Time! They had someone on the bus taking down names of all the students riding, apparently there was a huge mix up with the Kindergartners last year. Also, we were supposed to be the first drop off but ended up being the last. Thankfully they corrected that on Friday. Since the bus was so late arriving home, Makayla didn't see her dad for three days.

Butterflies

Makayla found two baby caterpillars towards the middle of August at our cousin MaryLee's farm. The caterpillars were about a half an inch in length, very tiny. We supplied them with milkweed and they tripled in size in less than a week. It was getting very hard to supply milkweed since we are heading into fall. We were so glad to see them in another week starting to create their chrysalis. Less than 10 days later, we had butterflies.

Allie Is 6 Months Old

Allie is 6 months old!
She loves to talk, her second word is dada.
She loves to eat her feet and put her mouth on everything.
She is a rolling machine and has figured out how to scoot to get her toys.
She loves the breeze on her face and to be outside.
She also loves to sit up to play and hardly ever falls.

Granny Kay and Cousin Avery's Visit

A few weeks ago, Granny Kay and Cousin Avery came to stay at our house over the weekend. We took Avery to Mall of America to enjoy rides and games in the arcade. We finished up with lunch and a visit to Lego land. Before we left, Kay bought cupcakes to celebrate Dwight's birthday. Makayla and Avery played all weekend and we finished the weekend picnicking with the rest of Makayla's cousins.
