Making Homemade Playdoh

Makayla and I made homemade play-doh for Allie tonight. She is still putting things in her mouth so we figured it would be better with the homemade vs. the toxic stuff in the store. I've never made it before and we were both surprised how easy and quick it was.

Color Me Mine Plates

A few weeks ago Makayla and I used a Groupon for Color Me Mine in Eagan. We decided to do a couple plates, I made one for Allie and MK did a nature scene.

Texas Pictures

Last night I had to take my little Nikon camera since professional cameras were not aloud at the Garth Brooks concert. I found some pictures from one year ago while we were traveling to my nephew's wedding in Texas.

Garth Brooks Concert

Dwight and I attended a Garth Brooks concert on Saturday at 6:30pm at the Target Center. Tickets went on sale in August and I waited online for 2 hours before getting tickets. All ticket sales through AXS was sold at $70 a ticket, no matter where you sat. Garth opened up more dates, with a total of 11 shows in Minneapolis.

There are no words to describe his show, it was amazing! It was non-stop entertainment for 2 1/2 hours straight. He took a little break during one of Tricia's songs but came back out and played guitar for her for the next 3. Everyone was on their feet the entire time and our voices hurt today from screaming and singing along. His new album comes out on Monday, he only sang 2 songs from it and the rest was old school.

We can now cross this off our bucket list!

Just Say No

There comes a time in everyone's life where you receive a wake-up call, mine was recently. Being the Wellness and Safety Manager, I always preach to our employees about being healthy. Do I always practice what I preach, heck no! It seems like I am busy taking care of everyone else but my own health.

My wake-up call happened one afternoon when I received our annual biometric screening results. My fasting sugars, sky high and my A1C also not in range. Now, diabetes runs my family on both my mom and dad sides. Plus, I've been diagnosed twice with gestational diabetes, which means I will get diabetes in my life. I went to my doctor to have her run more blood work and come to find out, my biometric screening results were right.

I know I need to take control but I so love all those naughty things with sugar ... give me a Mountain Dew and some sweet tarts and I'm a happy girl!

I did the drastic thing and stopped drinking pop, completely cut it out. I've been trying to drink half of my body weight in ounces of water, a couple cups of milk and usually some tea twice a week. I'm on week three ... the results ... 10lb weight loss! That's right, 10lbs! It's not like I didn't know what was going to happen, I tell employees all the time to cut out the sugar but I'm pretty proud of myself ... yeah me! I've also cut out most of my sweets and have been eating a lot better than what we have been.

I have a doctor's appointment scheduled within the next few weeks to talk about the next steps. I'm trying to control it with diet and not have to be on any medication. This is the first time in a long time I actually feel good, I'm not so tired anymore and I have a lot of energy ... plus I am feeling good about myself again!

Happy Halloween

Makayla went as Waldo and Allie went as a spider, she wouldn't keep on her hat that had the spider face on it. It was only 40 degrees so Allie went to a few of our old neighbors by our old townhome and then to a few of our new neighbors. When she came back home she helped me hand out candy, we had about 85 kids within 1 1/2 hours. Allie had her first treat, M&Ms and she wouldn't let her candy bucket go. She kept carrying it in one hand and the sucker in the other. Makayla came back with a pillowcase full! We spent the rest of the night watching scary movies!

Haunted Woods Trail

Every year Rosemount's area businesses come together to hand out candy and other fun stuff to kids at Central Park, this is called Haunted Woods Trail. The attendance grows bigger every year, this year it was close to 3,000 people! By the time we waited in line and went through the trail it was going on 2 hours! My friend, Paulette (our Minnesota G-Ma) came over for dinner and went through the trail with us.
