We Moved!

It's Loading Up The Truck Day! It didn't go as perfectly as expected, there were many bumps along the way but we did it! Dwight picked up the moving truck after his shift on Wednesday morning. A couple of his work buddies came over after their shift to help us load the truck. After getting Makayla off to school, Allie and I finished packing the house and cleaned rooms. Our 24 ft truck was filled to the brim and we still had many items left so we ended up getting a 10 ft truck. No rest for the weary!

Late afternoon, we had our final walk-through and the owners didn't have anything moved out! Their cabinets, drawers, closets, etc. were packed like when we first looked at the house. Our realtor told us that they were supposed to be moving out in the evening. Yikes! While we were having our final walk-through, the final walk-through was going on at our townhome. We picked Makayla up at the bus stop, ran a few errands and then we out for dinner. Came back home to finish packing the 10 ft truck and both vehicles. Makayla helped out a lot as she watched Allie while we were both outside.

Lucky for us, it started to down poor rain as we finished up. We parked our moving trucks in the park parking lot next to our house. The owners of our new home were trying to fill their trucks up in the rain, I noticed they had a tarp over one of them ... we found out later it was leaking.

It's Moving Day! Really early that morning Makayla woke up a few times with a really bad sore throat. Dwight and I couldn't sleep either so we were up watching TV ... we probably should have finished packing up the cars because when our alarm went off at 6am, it was total chaos! Makayla didn't feel good and she was dry heaving in the entryway. I was trying to get out the door because I had to take Allie to the sitter's house in Savage. Dwight and Makayla took Mister to the boarding place in Apple Valley and then Makayla to a friends house so she could be dropped off at school a little early. We are both lucky we made to closing on time. My trip to Savage was an icy commute. It had rained in Rosemount but by the time I got to Burnsville they had snow on the ground. The road was very icy and a few stop lights were out, did I mention it was rush hour traffic too? When I finally got to the sitter's house, I had to set-up everything and explain Allie's schedule. Just breathe!

The closing on our townhome was at 8:30a in Apple Valley and then from there we headed to Burnsville for the closing on our new house at 10:30a. We drove to our new home and started unpacking the trucks. Thankfully, we had a couple helpers! My brother came up and gave us a lawnmower as a house warming gift and then Dwight's friend and his son. The previous owner came back asking to go through the house to see if she left anything ... really?  Really? Whatever! As we were unpacking I get a call from the school nurse telling me that Makayla was running a fever and strep was going around the school ... lovely! I went to the school to pick her up. Took her back to minute clinic (they were closed for lunch before) and waited almost an hour to be seen. I called Dwight to have him come and sit with Makayla while I drove to Savage to pick up Allie. My brother stayed at the house and moved in some boxes from the garage while the cable guy was installing TV, Internet and phone. Thankfully Makayla doesn't have strep, it was a lot of drainage so we picked up some Musenex and Advil. Ordered pizza for dinner and spent the rest of the night putting beds together.

I didn't get my family picture in front of our sold sign, I was bummed. I was told that they usually take those signs down weeks later. They came and took it down the day we closed! What are the odds?
