We started a tradition about 3 or 4 years ago that one gift (for each person in the house) needed to be homemade and that gift would be opened on Christmas Eve when the rest of the gifts are opened Christmas Day. Makayla made Allie a Sesame Street blanket and it turned out really well. She has kept her other projects pretty hush hush, I guess we'll find out on Christmas Eve!
