A Visit With Santa

Before Thanksgiving the girls went to see Santa. On Makayla's list: sewing machine and books. Makayla wrote Allie's Christmas list, she thought she would like building blocks. Allie actually did really well with Santa! She laughed at him, we thought she would pull his beard but she didn't ... it looked like she was going to.

Everyday Pictures

Allie Is 8 Months Old

Allie is 8 months old!
She screams bloody murder and arches her back when she doesn't get her way.
Her two incisors are poking through on the top.
She is super fast at the army crawl.
Loves to help put on her diaper and take it off too!
Hates to get dressed and loves to be naked.
Shakes excitedly when she hears her bath water run.
Crawls after Mister and pulls his tale.
Loves to look at herself in the mirror.

Happy Halloween

It was a chilly Halloween! Allie went to visit the neighbors, as you can see she was a monster! This is part of her first birthday party theme "Our Little Monster Is Turning One". And then it was off to bed while Dwight and Makayla made their rounds in the neighborhood.

Makayla wouldn't let me snap any pictures of her on Halloween but she did let me take this one before she headed out to her school's annual Monster Mash. As you can see, she was a very beautiful witch.

Sewing "Machine"

Makayla and her friend, Harper, took a sewing class at Joanne Fabrics. They made a pillowcase. Makayla came home all excited to share what she had learned. Apparently, Makayla was the first one done so the instructor had showed her how to do special stitching. After the holidays, we will enroll her in a few more sewing classes since she enjoyed it "sew" much!

Lock & Dam Boat Cruise

One of the last nice days in October, our HR department went on a lunch cruise down the Mississippi river. The trees had just changed to the most beautiful colors! We went through the lock and dam, it was definitely an experience! We enjoyed a heavy meal of turkey, mash potatoes, gravy, salad and rolls. Towards the end of our trip it started to rain and then the next day it turned very cold. We all had a lot of fun and enjoyed the day away from the office!

Allie Is 7 Months Old

Allie is 7 Months Old!
She had her first plane ride and trip to the beach.
She can scoot all over the floor, especially when it's to something she can't have.
Her first two bottom teeth came in.
She still loves when Makayla scares her.
She loves the snow and giggles when she feels it on her face.

Another Texas Wedding

The first part of October we traveled to Texas for my nephews wedding. This was Allie's first plane ride and she did great all but the last hour traveling back home. That day consisted of a whole day traveling by car for four hours and then a two hour plane ride.

We flew into Dallas and stayed at my niece, Jill's house. The next day we traveled to Houston to stay with my nephew at his new house, but we stopped by my other niece, Jackie's to have dinner and catch up.

During our trip we traveled to Galveston to see the sites. This was also Allie's first trip to the beach! She loves water so of course she had fun. Makayla was picking up shells left and right and asked to come back to this area of Texas for a visit.

The wedding was beautiful and elegant, very simple and unique touches. During dinner, Allie had a major diaper blowout (this was just one of many over the entire trip due to teething) and luckily I had packed a change of clothes. She partied until the late evening hours and Makayla did too.

Twin's Game

We scored some pretty good seats to the last Twin's game of the season. This was my second trip to Target Field and Dwight's first. Allie enjoyed her first ever Twin's game! She enjoyed watching all the people and even slept about 45 minutes through all the commotion.

Welcome Home

Dwight and I have been going back and forth on what kind of home we should buy next year. Years ago, Dwight liked the older homes and I was more for the newer homes. Now, Dwight is for the newer homes and I would rather get an older home until Dwight convinced me to look at some of the model homes in the area. There are three builders in Rosemount right now: Ryland, D-R-Horton and Lennar. Over the last week we have looked at all three and IF we were to build, we are looking at Lennar as a lead contender.  We are still weighing out our options and still need to sit down to look at financials. We are getting very excited that this could be a possibility. Here is one of the plans that we both like: http://www.lennar.com/New-Homes/Minnesota/Minneapolis-St-Paul/Rosemount/Falmoor-Glen/Sinclair#t_h&s_1

Who Done It?

Every year we have attended the Who Done It Hike at the Ritter Farm Park in Lakeville. This year Makayla's friend Chase came with us. Chase stayed over the night before so we could leave early Saturday morning. We walk the trails and read clues along the way. At the end of the hike we submit our names in the bucket of who we think committed the crime. Even though we guessed right, we didn't win one of the big prizes but each of the kids received a t-shirt.

Reading Rocks!

Makayla is asking that you please support her in this year's Reading Rocks program. Reading Rocks is a read-a-thon to raise money for her school. The money raised will support programs and activities for the school. They are raising money by reading books and asking people to be sponsors. You can pledge for the amount of time she reads or a flat dollar amount. Makayla will need all donations back to school by October 1. Thank you for your support!

Makayla has been the top reader in her class every year! During this two week read-a-thon, her goal is to read over an hour a day. Suggested goal is 30 minutes for grads 3, 4, and 5.
